Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. CD19 is also found on certain myeloid leukemia cells, particularly of monocytic lineage. It serves as an important regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation and is expressed in all B cell precursor leukemias.
CD19 acts as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B cell receptor (BCR) and can also signal independently. It is a central regulatory component for multiple signaling pathways. Mutation of the CD19 gene causes hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity.
