MUPP1 (multi PDZ domain protein 1, MPDZ)는 5-HT2C 수용체와 상호작용하는 파트너로 발견되었으며, 마우스 뇌의 모든 영역에서 5-HT2A 또는 5-HT2C 수용체와 공동 위치함이 확인되었습니다.
MUPP1은 13개의 PDZ 도메인을 포함하지만 촉매 도메인은 없으며, 극성 상피세포의 타이트 결합부에 집중되어 claudin-1 및 junctional adhesion molecule (JAM)과 결합합니다.
따라서 MUPP1은 타이트 결합부에서 다양한 단백질을 모집하는 다가 scaffold 단백질로 기능할 수 있습니다. 또한 claudin-8과 상호작용하여 타이트 결합 장벽 기능에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
