This antibody detects endogenous levels of total NEIL3 protein.

Target Information

NEIL3 is a DNA glycosylase that preferentially acts on single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) or partially single-stranded structures such as bubble and fork forms, rather than double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). It shows strong glycosylase activity toward hydantoin lesions including spiroiminodihydantoin (Sp) and guanidinohydantoin (Gh) in both ssDNA and dsDNA, and also recognizes FapyA, FapyG, 5-OHU, 5-OHC, 5-OHMH, Tg, and 8-oxoA lesions in ssDNA. No activity on 8-oxoG is detected. Additionally, it exhibits weak DNA-(apurinic/apyrimidinic site) lyase activity. In vivo, NEIL3 is the primary enzyme responsible for removing Sp and Gh from ssDNA in neonatal tissues and plays a role in replication-associated DNA repair, supporting cell proliferation in neural progenitor and tumor cells.
