Target Information
EpoR encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. Binding of erythropoietin activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase and downstream pathways including Ras/MAP kinase, PI3K, and STAT transcription factors. This signaling promotes erythroid cell survival. Mutations or dysregulation of EPOR are associated with erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis, and may influence tumor growth. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
