Target Information
This gene encodes a scaffolding molecule that regulates the actin cytoskeleton. The protein interacts with filamentous actin and various cell membrane proteins via multiple actin-binding sites, SH3 domains, and a proline-rich region. It localizes to membrane ruffles, lipid rafts, and leading cell edges, playing roles in actin remodeling and membrane trafficking during receptor endocytosis and cytokinesis. Haploinsufficiency of this gene is associated with susceptibility to glomerular disease.
