This antibody detects endogenous TAUT protein at a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa.
Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Taurine is an abundant organic osmolyte with antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties, contributing to cell volume homeostasis. Taurine is transported into cells via the taurine transporter (TAUT), a sodium- and chloride-dependent multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the sodium neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) family. TNF alpha upregulates TAUT expression, while phosphorylation at Serine 322 downregulates it. Overexpression of TAUT protects renal cells from cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity.
