Target Information
SATB1 (DNA-binding protein SATB1) is a crucial silencing factor involved in X inactivation mediated by Xist RNA during embryogenesis and lymphoma. It binds to AT-rich DNA sequences at nuclear matrix-associated regions, recognizing the sugar-phosphate backbone of double-stranded DNA.
SATB1 acts as a transcriptional repressor, regulating nuclear and viral gene expression depending on phosphorylation and acetylation status. It plays a key role in T-cell maturation (CD8SP thymocytes) and influences HIV-1 integration and gene repression mechanisms.
