Target Information
FTH1은 ferritin의 heavy subunit으로, 원핵 및 진핵세포에서 주요 세포내 철 저장 단백질입니다. Ferritin은 heavy와 light chain의 24개 서브유닛으로 구성되며, 서브유닛 조성의 변화는 조직별 철의 흡수 및 방출 속도에 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다. Ferritin의 주요 기능은 철을 용해성이고 무독성 상태로 저장하는 것입니다. Ferritin 단백질 결함은 여러 신경퇴행성 질환과 관련이 있으며, 이 유전자는 다수의 pseudogene을 가지고 있습니다. 또한 여러 alternative splicing 변이체가 보고되었으나, 그 생물학적 유효성은 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
