Target Information
NIF1 is a component or associated component of some histone methyltransferase complexes, potentially regulating transcription through recruitment of those complexes on gene promoters. It enhances ligand-dependent transcriptional activation by nuclear hormone receptors and plays a key role in neural progenitor cell proliferation and self-renewal through regulation of brain development genes, including REST. It also controls expression of genes involved in somatic development, such as lymphoblast proliferation.
