두 가지 대체 스플라이싱 아이소폼으로 존재하며, 인간 염색체 16q24.3에 위치한 RNF166 유전자에 의해 암호화됩니다.
염색체 16은 900개 이상의 유전자를 포함하며 인간 유전체의 약 3%를 차지합니다.
이 염색체에는 Giant Axonal Neuropathy(GAN), Rubinstein-Taybi 증후군, 크론병(Crohn’s disease) 등과 관련된 유전자가 존재합니다.
