Target Information
PYCARD functions as a key mediator in apoptosis and inflammation. It promotes caspase-mediated apoptosis involving caspase-8 and -9, activates the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, and mediates BAX-dependent apoptosis. It is involved in macrophage pyroptosis and acts as an adapter in inflammasome assembly, activating caspase-1 and promoting cytokine processing. PYCARD interacts with pattern recognition receptors such as NLRP2, NLRP3, AIM2, and IFI16, and may regulate NF-κB signaling. Isoforms exhibit regulatory roles in inflammasome activation and cytokine maturation.
