Ca2+/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase II (CaM Kinase II)는 다기능성 칼슘 및 칼모듈린 의존성 단백질 키나아제로, 다양한 세포 내 신호에 대한 반응을 매개합니다 (Kennedy, 1998; Schulman and Hanson, 1993).
이 효소는 시냅스 가소성, 신경전달물질 합성과 방출, 유전자 발현, 이온 채널 기능, 탄수화물 대사, 세포골격 기능, Ca2+ 항상성 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조절하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다 (Gleason et al., 2003; Soderling, 2000; Hudmon and Schulman, 2002).
Thr286의 인산화는 CaM Kinase II의 자가활성 형태를 생성하며 (Meng et al., 2003; Picciotto et al., 1993), Thr305의 자가인산화는 효소 활성을 억제합니다. 이 부위의 인산화는 PSD와의 결합을 감소시키고 LTP 및 학습을 저해하는 것으로 보고되었습니다 (Elgersma et al., 2002).
