Target Information

CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 have been linked to various cancers. CHK2 is activated by DNA damage and phosphorylates several modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins. It can also phosphorylate BRCA1, aiding in survival after DNA damage. CHK2 is considered a tumor suppressor protein, with mutations associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome and predisposition to sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
