UBXN6은 ATP 구동 단백질 분리효소인 VCP의 ATPase 활성을 음성 조절할 수 있습니다 (PubMed:26475856).
VCP의 보조인자로서 CAV1의 리소좀 이동 및 분해에 관여할 수 있으며 (PubMed:21822278, PubMed:23335559),
잘못 접힌 단백질의 소포체 관련 분해(ERAD)에 관여할 수 있습니다 (PubMed:19275885).
또한 VCP 및 다른 보조인자들과 함께 손상된 리소좀의 제거 등 매크로오토파지 조절에 관여할 수 있습니다 (PubMed:27753622).
