Target Information
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that functions in the antephase checkpoint by delaying passage into mitosis in response to microtubule poisons. Acts in early prophase before chromosome condensation. Involved in signaling mitotic stress via Lys-48-linked ubiquitination leading to proteasomal degradation of target proteins such as AURKA and PLK1. May function as a tumor suppressor by mediating polyubiquitination and degradation of HDAC1. Also promotes Lys-63-linked polyubiquitin chain formation with the UBC13-MMS2 (UBE2N-UBE2V2) complex, contributing to cellular stress signaling.
