TNF beta는 종양괴사인자(TNF) 패밀리에 속하는 사이토카인으로, 림프구에 의해 생성됩니다. 이 단백질은 고도로 유도 가능하며 분비형으로 존재하고, lymphotoxin-beta와 이합체를 형성하여 세포 표면에 고정됩니다. TNF beta는 염증, 면역 자극 및 항바이러스 반응에 관여하며, 발달 중 2차 림프기관 형성 및 세포자멸사(apoptosis)에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한, 이 유전자의 변이는 나병(type 4)과 건선성 관절염의 감수성과 관련이 있습니다.
