Target Information
BRCA1 (breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)은 핵 내 인산화 단백질로, 유전체 안정성을 유지하고 종양 억제 단백질, DNA 손상 감지 인자, 신호 전달 인자들과 함께 BASC(BRCA1 associated genome surveillance complex)를 형성하여 종양 억제 기능을 수행합니다.
BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase complex와 상호작용하며, 전사 조절, 이중가닥 DNA 손상 복구, 재조합에 관여합니다.
BRCA1 유전자의 돌연변이는 유전성 유방암의 약 40%, 유전성 유방·난소암의 80% 이상과 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있으며, 일부는 질환 관련 돌연변이로 확인되었습니다. 또한 염색체 17번에 위치한 관련 유사유전자(pseudogene)도 존재합니다.
