Target Information
SFPQ, also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and gene expression regulation. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and DNA break repair.
Recent studies identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau; nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation of SFPQ were observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its important role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
