Target Information
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels are a complex class of ion channels with diverse physiological roles, including regulation of neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume.
The KCNG4 gene encodes a modulatory subunit of the voltage-gated potassium channel, subfamily G. It is strongly expressed in the brain, and multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified in normal and cancerous tissues.
