Target Information
Histamine H3 Receptor (HRH3) regulates the release of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and somatostatin. In histamine-containing neurons of the brain, it acts as a presynaptic autoreceptor, while in non-histamine-containing neurons, both in the central and peripheral nervous systems, it functions as a presynaptic heteroreceptor. Multiple isoforms are produced by alternative splicing. HRH3 expression is primarily observed in the brain, with ESTs identified from brain (normal and cancer), breast cancer, colon cancer, and retinoblastoma libraries.
