Target Information
PGAM1 belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family. It plays a key role in glucose and 2,3-BPGA metabolism, catalyzing the reversible conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in the glycolytic pathway.
PGAM1 is a dimeric enzyme composed of muscle (MM), brain (BB), and hybrid (MB) isozymes in different tissues.
Mutations in PGAM1 cause muscle phosphoglycerate mutase deficiency (glycogen storage disease X).
Recombinant human PGAM protein, fused to a His-tag at the N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified using conventional chromatography techniques.
