Target Information
Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) is a complex multifunctional enzyme system. It is a biotin-containing enzyme that catalyzes the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, the rate-limiting step in fatty acid synthesis.
There are two ACC forms, alpha and beta, encoded by different genes. ACC-alpha is highly enriched in lipogenic tissues.
The enzyme is regulated both long-term (transcriptional and translational levels) and short-term (phosphorylation/dephosphorylation of serine residues and allosteric modulation by citrate or palmitoyl-CoA).
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants with distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
