Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-CD44 Antibody is directed against human CD44 protein. A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with this protein from human based on 100% homology for the immunizing sequence.

Target Information

CD44 cell surface antigen is a 100 kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, white matter of the brain, and some epithelial cells of the intestine and breast. Several isoforms of CD44 exist, including the predominant CD44H isoform detected in many normal tissues.

CD44 is a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. It participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing. Expression may be upregulated in some carcinomas, potentially related to metastatic potential.

CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express high levels of CD44, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate expression in response to stimulation. Transcripts undergo complex alternative splicing, producing many distinct isoforms. Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus, and CD44 may be related to tumor metastasis formation.
