Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD). These proteins are putative RNA helicases involved in processes such as translation initiation, splicing, and ribosome assembly. Members of this family play roles in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cell growth. The DDX39 gene may be involved in the prognosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 13, and multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
