Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the serine protease inhibitor superfamily, which regulates key physiological processes such as coagulation, fibrinolysis, development, malignancy, and inflammation. It may play a role in growth-suppressing pathways and pancreatic carcinogenesis. This protein is part of the plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 family, acting as a tissue-specific tPA inhibitor. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
