Target Information
LRRC33 is a key regulator of transforming growth factor beta (TGFB1, TGFB2, TGFB3) that controls TGF-beta activation by maintaining it in a latent state in the extracellular space. It associates via disulfide bonds with the Latency-associated peptide (LAP), regulating integrin-dependent activation of TGF-beta. LRRC33 competes with LTBP1 for LAP binding and controls activation of TGF-beta-1 (TGFB1) on activated regulatory T-cells (Tregs). It is essential for epithelial fusion during palate development by regulating activation of TGF-beta-3 (TGFB3).
