Target Information
EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor)는 EGF Receptor (EGFR, 170 kDa protein kinase)에 결합하여 작용을 발휘합니다.
EGFR 활성화는 환경 자극 또는 EGF 결합에 의해 다양한 세포 내 신호 전달 경로를 유도합니다.
EGFR은 다른 수용체와 homo- 또는 heterodimer를 형성하며, 각 복합체는 SH2 도메인을 가진 다양한 effector 단백질을 모집하여 독특한 신호 경로를 활성화합니다.
EGF는 신장, 뇌, 전립선, 침샘 등에서 널리 발현되며, 강력한 세포 성장 촉진 인자로 작용합니다.
활성화된 수용체는 GRB2 등의 adapter 단백질을 모집하여 RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, STAT 등 주요 신호 전달 경로를 활성화합니다.
또한 NF-κB 신호 경로 활성에도 관여할 수 있습니다.
EGF 유전자 결함은 hypomagnesemia type 4를 유발하며, 발현 조절 이상은 특정 암의 성장과 진행과 관련이 있습니다.
