Target Information
Steroid and thyroid hormones and retinoic acid regulate gene expression via intracellular receptor transcription factors belonging to the ligand-dependent nuclear receptor superfamily. Coactivators and corepressors modulate transcription activity of these receptors.
Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein-1 (GRIP1), also known as Transcription Intermediary Factor 2 (TIF2), is a transcriptional coactivator related to SRC-1 and AIB-1.
GRIP1 interacts with and stimulates transcriptional activity of retinoic acid, retinoid X, vitamin D, mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid, thyroid hormone, androgen, estrogen, progesterone, and peroxisome proliferator activated receptors.
It contains several conserved LXXLL/LLXXL motifs critical for receptor-coactivator interactions.
