Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates key cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This PTP contains two tandem Src homology-2 (SH2) domains that mediate phospho-tyrosine binding and substrate interaction.
It is broadly expressed across tissues and plays a critical role in multiple signaling pathways involved in mitogenic activation, metabolic control, transcription regulation, and cell migration.
Mutations in this gene are associated with Noonan syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.
