Target Information
CHD5 (Chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 5) is a member of the SNF2/RAD54 helicase family of chromatin remodeling and DNA-binding proteins (CDH proteins). It is highly expressed in both fetal and adult brain, playing a critical role in nervous system development and acting as a tumor suppressor via the Arf/p53 pathway.
CHD5 forms chromatin remodeling complexes such as NuRD, which promote normal neuroblast maturation and prevent overexpression of neuronal cells. Dysfunction in these complexes can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and tumor formation. Deletions in the CHD5 gene are commonly found in neuroblastomas, suggesting its deficiency contributes to malignant transformation and metastasis.
