Target Information

This gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. GAB proteins contain a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and interact with SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They serve as adapters transmitting signals in response to cytokine and growth factor receptors, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptors. The encoded protein acts as a principal activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase upon activation of the high-affinity IgE receptor. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
