Target Information

MAP3K14 (NIK) is structurally related to MAP3Ks. It phosphorylates and activates CHUK (IKKα) and IKBKB (IKKβ), which in turn phosphorylate IκB-α, releasing NF-κB and upregulating inflammatory response genes.
This kinase binds to TRAF2 and stimulates NF-κB activity. It shares sequence similarity with several other MAPKK kinases and participates in an NF-κB-inducing signaling cascade common to TNF/NGF family receptors and the interleukin-1 type-I receptor.
