SUPV3L1은 미토콘드리아 RNA 대사에서 주요 헬리케이스로 작용하며, 미토콘드리아 degradosome(mtEXO) 복합체의 구성요소로서 ATP 의존적으로 3’ 오버행 dsRNA를 3’→5’ 방향으로 분해합니다.
비암호화 미토콘드리아 전사체(MT-ncRNA) 및 tRNA 유사 분자의 분해에 관여하며, RNA/DNA 이중가닥 및 RNA/DNA 이종이중가닥을 5’→3’ 방향으로 풀 수 있습니다.
미토콘드리아 내 RNA 감시 시스템에서 성숙 mRNA의 안정성 조절, 비정상 mRNA 제거, 비암호화 중간체의 분해에 관여합니다. 또한 재조합 및 염색질 유지 경로에도 관여하며, 세포를 아포토시스로부터 보호할 수 있습니다. 미토콘드리아 DNA와 결합합니다.
