The antibody 45M1 recognizes MUC5AC (Mucin 5AC/Gastric Mucin), a mucin glycoprotein expressed in epithelial tissues. It reacts with the Lewisa blood group antigen, a carbohydrate determinant carried on both glycolipids and glycoproteins, detected on erythrocytes, certain epithelial cells, and in secretions of certain individuals.
