Background
IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of IGFs and can either inhibit or stimulate their growth-promoting effects in cell culture. They modify the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors.
O-linked glycans consist of hexose (likely Gal), N-acetylhexosamine (likely GalNAc), and sialic acid residues. Major glycoforms contain 8–16 monosaccharides (based on homology to recombinant IGFBP6 expressed in CHO cells).
