배경 (Background)
The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor containing an N-terminal POZ domain. It acts as a sequence-specific transcriptional repressor and modulates STAT-dependent IL-4 responses in B cells. BCL6 interacts with various POZ-containing transcription corepressors and is frequently translocated or hypermutated in diffuse large-cell lymphoma (DLCL), suggesting a role in DLCL pathogenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified (RefSeq, Aug 2015).
