Background
Platelet-derived growth factor D (PDGFD) is a member of the PDGF family, which includes four mitogenic factors for cells of mesenchymal origin. These proteins share a conserved core motif containing eight cysteines. PDGFD forms only homodimers and does not dimerize with other PDGF family members. Unlike PDGF-A and PDGF-B, PDGFD possesses an unusual N-terminal CUB domain. Two splice variants have been identified for this gene (RefSeq, Jul 2008).
