Background
Zinc finger protein 397 (ZNF397) is a human protein containing a N-terminal SCAN domain and multiple C2H2-type zinc finger repeats in its C-terminal region. The protein localizes to centromeres during interphase and early prophase. Isoforms of ZNF397 can either repress or activate transcription in transfection studies. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified, though the biological validity of some variants remains uncertain. (Provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009)
