Target Information
The gene encoding PCDHA4 is part of the protocadherin alpha gene cluster, located on chromosome 5. This cluster includes 15 cadherin superfamily genes similar to mouse CNR genes. PCDHA4 is a single-pass type I membrane protein with six cadherin domains, functioning as a calcium-dependent cell-adhesion molecule. It is implicated in the establishment and maintenance of specific neuronal connections in the brain.
