RNF157는 E3 유비퀴틴 리가아제로서 APBB1을 유비퀴틴화하여 프로테아좀에 의한 분해를 유도하고, 세포자멸사를 억제하여 신경세포 생존을 촉진합니다 (PubMed:25342469). 또한 수상돌기 성장 및 유지에 관여하며, 이 과정에서 리가아제 활성은 필수적이지 않습니다. PI3K 및 MAPK 신호 경로의 하위 조절자로 작용하여 세포 주기 조절에도 참여합니다 (PubMed:28655764). [UniProt]
