The Human VEGF-A Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures VEGF-A protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits so that you can create your own multiplex panel utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.
When combining multiple Simplex kits (i.e., when not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantify multiple targets simultaneously via a Luminex instrument.
These multiplex assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and yield analyzed results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample.
Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating spectrally unique signatures identifiable by systems such as Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, and MAGPIX.
Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific to a single target protein, and bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, ProcartaPlex assays use bead-conjugated capture antibodies that remain free-floating in solution. Detection relies on dual-laser Luminex instruments—one laser distinguishes bead identity, and the other quantifies RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.
This approach enables profiling of more targets with less sample volume and similar assay time compared to standard ELISA.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available across six species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, canine).
