MAGEA4는 MAGEA 유전자 패밀리의 구성원으로, 구성원 간 50~80%의 서열 유사성을 보입니다. 이 유전자군의 프로모터와 첫 번째 엑손은 상당한 변이를 나타내며, 동일한 기능이 다양한 전사 조절 하에서 발현될 수 있도록 합니다. MAGEA 유전자는 염색체 위치 Xq28에 군집되어 있으며, dyskeratosis congenita와 같은 일부 유전 질환과 관련이 있습니다.
