Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene, located on chromosome 19 within the kallikrein gene cluster, may participate in proteolytic cascades in the skin and has potential as an ovarian cancer biomarker. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
