Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)은 저분자량 케라틴의 산성(type A) 아형에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다. 위장관, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포 등에서 발현됩니다.
Cytokeratin 18은 비편평 상피(non-squamous epithelia)에서 주로 발견되며, 대부분의 선암(adenocarcinomas) 및 관암(ductal carcinomas)에서 발현되지만, 편평세포암(squamous cell carcinomas)에서는 발현되지 않습니다.
간세포암(hepatocellular carcinomas)은 Cytokeratin 8과 18만을 발현하며, KRT18 유전자 변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 관련이 있습니다. 두 개의 전사 변이체(transcript variants)가 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
Cytokeratin 아형 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 악성종양의 감별 진단에 점점 더 많이 활용되고 있으며, Cytokeratin 항체는 면역조직화학, 세포병리학 및 유세포분석(flow cytometry)에도 유용한 도구로 사용됩니다.
