Target Information

TRRAP is an adapter protein found in various multiprotein chromatin complexes with histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity, which provides specific epigenetic transcription activation tags. It is a component of the NuA4 complex responsible for acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A.
TRRAP plays a central role in MYC transcription activation and participates in cell transformation by MYC. It is required for p53/TP53-, E2F1-, and E2F4-mediated transcription activation and is involved in transcription activation by adenovirus E1A.
TRRAP likely links transcription factors such as E1A, MYC, or E2F1 to HAT complexes (e.g., STAGA) to enable transcription activation, though it may not be required in steps after histone acetylation.
Additionally, TRRAP may be essential for the mitotic checkpoint and normal cell cycle progression and is a component of a SWR1-like complex mediating removal of histone H2A.Z/H2AFZ from nucleosomes.
