Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of all surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent on non-hematopoietic cell lines and tissues. CD45 plays a key role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling by regulating Src-family kinases. Multiple CD45 isoforms result from alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains. CD45RA is one such isoform with restricted expression among lymphoid cell subtypes. CD45 modulates T- and B-cell receptor signaling, suppresses JAK kinases, and regulates cytokine receptor signaling. It also contributes to cell survival through integrin-mediated pathways and modulation of apoptosis-related processes.
