Rab 단백질은 엔도사이토시스 경로의 필수 구성 요소입니다. Rab6A는 Rab 단백질 계열의 보편적으로 발현되는 멤버로, 골지막(Golgi membrane)에 위치하며 후기 엔도솜에서 골지를 거쳐 소포체(ER)로 이동하는 역방향 수송을 조절합니다.
대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 세 가지 아이소폼이 존재하며, Rab6A`, Rab6A(보편적 발현), Rab6B(뇌 특이적 발현)가 있습니다.
