Target Information
NR5A2 binds to the sequence element 5'-AACGACCGACCTTGAG-3' of the enhancer II of hepatitis B virus genes, which is a critical cis-element for expression and regulation. It may contribute to liver-specific enhancer II activity in combination with other hepatocyte transcription factors. NR5A2 is a key regulator of cholesterol 7-alpha-hydroxylase gene (CYP7A) expression in the liver and may also regulate pancreas-specific genes, playing important roles in embryonic development.
