Target Information
ACKR1 (also known as DARC) is an atypical chemokine receptor that regulates chemokine levels and localization through high-affinity chemokine binding. This mechanism is independent of classic ligand-driven signal transduction cascades, resulting in chemokine sequestration, degradation, or transcytosis.
ACKR1 is also referred to as an interceptor or chemokine-scavenging receptor and binds inflammatory chemokines from both CXC and CC subfamilies, but not homeostatic chemokines.
It acts as a receptor for chemokines such as CCL2, CCL5, CCL7, CCL11, CCL13, CCL14, CCL17, CXCL5, CXCL6, IL8/CXCL8, CXCL11, GRO, RANTES, MCP-1, TARC, and serves as an entry receptor for malaria parasites P. vivax and P. knowlesi.
