This antibody is specific for fluorescein I.

Target Information

FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorochrome dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light, causing molecules to become excited and emit visible yellow-green light. This emission ceases when the excitation light is removed. Fluorochrome labeling enables rapid and accurate localization of antigen-antibody interactions when one reactant is part of a cell, tissue, or other biological structure.

FITC is commonly used as a marker for antibodies in immunofluorescent techniques due to its ease of conjugation and minimal impact on the biological activity of labeled proteins. It is also widely used as a hapten to label various proteins. Anti-FITC antibodies can be used for isolating FITC-labeled cells by magnetic microbead-based sorting or for reducing background signal.
